Remedial Waterproofing & Balcony Upgrade
Elite Australian Engineering delivers specialist remedial waterproofing solutions designed to safeguard buildings against water ingress and the long-term effects of structural degradation.
In this project, we carried out a full balcony waterproofing upgrade, delivering results that meet Australian Standards and provide lasting performance.
Project Overview:
✅ Removal of Existing Finishes – Carefully stripped all damaged and worn materials to fully expose the substrate for inspection and preparation.
✅ New Structural Decking & Sheeting – Installed robust timber decking and floor sheeting, incorporating falls toward the balcony’s leading edge for optimal drainage.
✅ Premium Waterproofing System – Applied the ARDEX WPM 1000 membrane to deliver exceptional waterproofing and moisture resistance.
✅ Enhanced Stormwater Management – Installed a new drainage system, including a gutter along the leading edge, to efficiently channel water from the balcony to the stormwater network.
✅ Upgraded Sliding Doors – Fitted modern, weather-sealed sliding doors to improve appearance, usability, and energy efficiency.
✅ New Balustrades – Installed compliant, durable balustrades to improve safety and finish.
Through the use of advanced waterproofing methods and proven remedial techniques, we successfully restored the balcony’s integrity while improving its durability, drainage performance, and protection against the elements.

Location: Ermington NSW
Client Representative: Netstrata
Project Budget: $150,000
Project Commenced: 12 May2025
Project Completed: 25 July 2025
Reason for Remedial Works: The existing balcony waterproofing had reached the point of failure, allowing ongoing water ingress during rainfall. Defects including cracks in the surface finishes, inadequate drainage, and breakdown of the membrane enabled moisture to penetrate beneath the surface. Over time, this persistent exposure caused extensive rot to the structural timber decking and associated floor sheeting, compromising the balcony’s load-bearing capacity and overall safety.
In addition to structural deterioration, the water ingress contributed to visible damage inside the unit, such as swelling and distortion of internal finishes, and increased the risk of mould growth. To restore the balcony’s structural integrity and provide long-term protection against future leaks, a full replacement of the timber decking, floor sheets, and waterproofing system was required.
